WAVELENGTH REEF CRUISES: PORT DOUGLAS

Wavelength has been operating out of Port Douglas since 1986 and specialises in snorkelling trips to the Outer Reef. Wavelength conceived the Coral Nurture Program in partnership with the science team and, in 2018, created Coralclip® and implemented the first coral nurseries and outplanting of coral fragments on the Great Barrier Reef. Since then, Wavelength have established numerous coral nurseries and outplanting sites on Opal Reef.

CAIRNS PREMIER REEF & ISLAND TOURS: CAIRNS

Cairns Premier Reef and Island Tours represent two reef vessels, Ocean Freedom and Ocean Free, operating out of Cairns. Ocean Freedom specialises in snorkel and dive trips to Upolu Reef and has been a part of the Coral Nurture Program since 2019. Their reef sites boast beautiful soft coral gardens, being supplemented with out planting and coral nurseries. Ocean Free provides sailing trips to Green Island and its fringing reefs. Locally owned and family operated.

PASSIONS OF PARADISE: CAIRNS

Passions of Paradise has been operating out of Cairns since 1989, specialising in sailing and dive trips to the Great Barrier Reef. They have multiple outplanting sites and coral nurseries on Hastings Reef, and have been part of the Coral Nurture Program since 2019. They have also implemented dedicated “Science Fridays”, adding to their stewardship activities. Passions of Paradise is owner operated. Passions of Paradise were recently awarded the 2023 Banksia Foundation Sustainable Tourism Award.

GREAT ADVENTURES REEF & ISLAND TOURS: CAIRNS

Great Adventures operates out of Cairns, taking passengers to Green Island and a pontoon on Moore Reef. At Moore Reef, Great Adventures has two healthy coral nurseries and began out-planting corals in 2019 with the Coral Nurture Program. They are part of the Quicksilver Group and are committed to sustainable environmental practices and ongoing conservation for future generations to enjoy.

SAILAWAY: PORT DOUGLAS

Sailaway operates out of Port Douglas and specialises in sailing and snorkelling trips to Low Isles and the Outer Reef offshore from Cape Tribulation. Sailaway have been part of the Coral Nurture Program since 2019 and currently outplant coral and have coral nurseries deployed at both Low Isles and Mackay Reef. Their commitment to ecotourism is their opportunity to increase awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.

DOWN UNDER CRUISE & DIVE: CAIRNS

Down Under Cruise and Dive is the most recent operator to join the Coral Nurture Program, starting outplanting and setting up coral nurseries on Hastings Reef in 2021. Their main vessel, Evolution, takes passengers out to a number of reefs offshore from Cairns and offers snorkelling and diving. They’ve been running Outer Great Barrier Reef tours from their Cairns base, for over 30 years.

KIANA SAIL & DIVE: WHITSUNDAYS

Kiana Sail & Dive operates MS Kiana, a custom-built cutter rigged ketch, out of Airlie Beach. As a dive live-aboard, Kiana regularly tours The Whitsunday region’s far outer reefs to enable visitors to ‘explore the unexplored’. Regularly operating a 3day/2night tour, visiting Whitehaven Beach the Whitsunday Islands and outer-reef, Kiana is passionate for showcasing and preserving the very best that Whitsundays reefs, and support the Coral Nurture Program through stewardship of the nursery at Blue Pearl Bay. In 2022, Kiana Sail & Dive were awarded the Gold Ecotourism Award, Bronze Unique Accomodation Award and were recognised as Adventure Tourism Finalists at the Whitsundays Tourism Awards.

OCEAN RAFTING AIRLIE BEACH : WHITSUNDAYS

Ocean Rafting operates out of Airlie Beach and showcases the best of the Whitsunday Islands, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet and the Great Barrier Reef. Participating in the Coral Nurture program since 2022, Ocean Rafting’s dedicated research vessel ‘Wild Thing’ services a nursery site in Luncheon Bay, Hook Island. As a member of the Eco-Tourism Australia Hall of Fame, Ocean Rafting has always been committed to sustainable practices and promoting stewardship activities on the Great Barrier Reef. Ocean Rafting were awarded the Silver Ecotourism Award at the 2022 Australian Tourism Awards.

RED CAT ADVENTURES : WHITSUNDAYS

Red Cat Adventures first began operations in 2011 with the sailing vessel ‘Tongarra’, and have now expanded their fleet to include three ‘Thundercats’ and ‘Wildcat’ in Mackay. Being a family owned and operated business, Red Cat Adventures’ number one priority is preserving the local reefs for future generations to come. Red Cat Adventures is proud to be a part of the Whitsunday Coral Nurture Program and are excited to be site stewards for the coral nursery at Black Island. Red Cat Adventures were awarded Gold in the New Tourism Business Award at the 2022 Australian Tourism Awards.
